Nutrition: Mock Virtual Conference

One morning it occurred to me that the foodhealing project presents me with a unique opportunity, an opportunity to curate a nutrition conference with presentations from the most esteemed educators without any financial or logistical barriers. This is something unique to this project and personally exciting for me. So, here it is – my curation of a mock virtual nutrition conference.
Each of the carefully selected educators has an important message to share. I hope you enjoy their presentations.

Natasha Campbell-McBride is a Neuroscientist, Neurosurgeon and Nutritionist who used food for healing her son from Autism. Campbell-McBride is very dedicated to her cause which reflects in both her professional and personal life. Campbell-McBride has written the GAPS protocol – “Gut And Psychology Syndrome.”

Wahls was diagnosed with a chronic progressive neurological disorder and secondary progressive multiple sclerosis which she has recovered from by means of nutrition and lifestyle changes.

He has written three best-selling books and he co-founded the Intensive Dietary Management program.

Fasting mimicking diets, Regeneration and Longevity
Valter Longo is one of the world leaders in the field of aging and aging-related diseases and has published over 120 papers which include the discovery of some of the genes responsible for longevity and the identification of a genetic mutation protecting humans from some of the most common diseases. Longo advocates a ‘fasting mimicking diet’ as an adjunct for cancer treatment.

Rhonda Patrick
Diet-Gene Interactions, Epigenetics, the Vitamin D-Serotonin Link and DNA Damage
Rhonda Patrick completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute under the guidance of Dr. Bruce Ames. During her tenure, she conducted research on the impact of inadequate micronutrient intake on various bodily processes including metabolism, inflammation, DNA damage, and aging. Additionally, Patrick studied the role of vitamin D in brain function, behavior, and other physiological functions. Her work culminated in a research paper, where she discussed the regulation of serotonin synthesis by vitamin D and its potential implications for autism.

Michael Antoniou
Health risks from GMO foods and glyphosate based herbicides
Michael Antoniou is a respected scholar in the field of molecular genetics. He currently holds the position of Reader in Molecular Genetics and leads the Gene Expression and Therapy Group at the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics in the King’s College London School of Medicine, UK. Antoniou boasts 30+ years of experience utilising genetic engineering technology, including genome-editing tools, to study gene organisation and regulation. His prolific research has led to the publication of over 100 peer-reviewed articles.

Charles Massy
Regenerative Farming in Australia
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and Human Ecology from ANU in 1976, Charles Massy devoted the next 35 years to farming and establishing a reputable Merino sheep stud called ‘Severn Park’. However, growing concerns over land degradation and the sustainability crisis facing humanity prompted him to pursue a PhD in Human Ecology at ANU in 2009. In recognition of his contributions as Chair and Director of various research organisations and statutory wool boards, Massy was awarded an Order of Australia Medal. He has also served on numerous national and international review panels related to sheep and wool research, development, and genomics.
